Everywhere in the European Union, European citizens facing an emergency (accident, aggression, fire) can call for help the European emergency number 112. The 112 number is available free of charge from fixed and mobile telephones. In many countries calls may be answered in several languages and the caller may also be localised. 112 was introduced in 1991 and since 2009 it is operational in all the countries of the European Union. It is known to only 24% of Europeans (only [x]% in Romania). This is why we must all promote it amongst our fellow citizens. This is a piece of information that can save lives.
